Title
Department of Transportation recommending the Board adopt and authorize the Chair to sign Resolution 110-2025 establishing a weight restriction on Carson Crossing Drive.
(District 2)

FUNDING: Road Fund. (100%)
Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Department of Transportation, Maintenance and Operations Division (Transportation) reviewed Carson Crossing Drive, which was initially brought to the Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) in November 2024 for multiple reasons, one of which was to evaluate commercial vehicle use. Residents within the Heritage Community expressed concerns about increased pedestrian use of adjacent facilities to the age-restricted community. Transportation then placed changeable message signs to deter commercial vehicle use. The interim solution proved to be effective; therefore, Transportation staff reevaluated the weight restriction at the April 30, 2025, TAC meeting. After discussion, it was determined to amend Resolution No. 141A-89 to add Carson Crossing Drive, establishing a weight restriction between White Rock Road and Golden Foothill Parkway.

The following is the final recommendation that was approved by the West Slope Traffic Advisory Committee:

Resolution No. 141A-89

ADD:

“(c) Carson Crossing Drive (No. 2791) weight limit of 20,000 pounds (10 tons) from White Rock Road (No. 34) to Golden Foothill Parkway (No. 1124).”

ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to agree with the West Slope Traffic Advisory Committee's decision to implement a weight restriction on Carson Crossing Drive, however large commercial vehicles would likely continue to use the road.
