DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On an annual basis the Board of Supervisors holds a good governance workshop to review and discuss any revisions to the County's Good Governance Manual and Board Protocols. Based on direction provided by the Board at the January 11, 2021, Good Governance Workshop, revisions were requested to the following protocols and are now being presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
1) Role of the Board Chair
2) Role with Advisory Boards/Committees/Commissions
3) Board Agenda Development
4) Public Comment During Board Meetings
5) Self-Monitoring of Board Effectiveness
A copy of the protocols with changes tracked is attached for reference.
In addition, the Board directed staff to prepare a new protocol defining the role of Elected Department Heads, a copy of which is also attached for consideration.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the revisions or may request modifications.
