DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On November 12, 2024, the Department of Human Resources (HR) recommended the Board of Supervisors (Board) increase the base wages of Elected Department Heads (EL), Appointed Department Heads (UD), Administrative Management (UM), Confidential (CO), and Extra Help (EH) employees by three percent with the exception of the following classifications: Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, Chief Administrative Officer, County Counsel, Undersheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender, Alternate Public Defender, Chief Probation Officer, and all classifications that include one or more allocated positions that are represented by a bargaining unit. The Board approved Resolution 201-2024 in agreement with HR’s recommendation.
Due to an administrative clerical error, the classification of Assistant Agriculture Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures has been identified as having received a 6.92% increase instead of the intended 3.0%. As such, the recommendation is to decrease the Assistant Agriculture Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures base salary by 3.92% to align with the original intended increase authorized by the Board on November 12, 2024.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose to keep the salary that is currently adopted for the Assistant Agriculture Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures classification.
