Background
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) El Dorado, known locally as Child Advocates of El Dorado County, provides specially trained and supervised community volunteers to advocate on the behalf of abused and neglected children by investigating and monitoring cases involving children in foster care.
In 2013, the Foster Youth and Human Trafficking (FYHT) Task Force was formed in El Dorado County to respond to the growing epidemic of commercial sexual exploitation of children. The El Dorado County FYHT Task Force is comprised of local representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, City Law Enforcement Agencies, Probation Department, District Attorney’s Office, Health and Human Services Agency (Child Welfare Services, Mental Health and Public Health Divisions), County Counsel, El Dorado County Office of Education, and Child Advocates of El Dorado County.
Run for Courage, Inc. is a local non-profit founded to eradicate human trafficking by promoting awareness and supporting organizations that provide restorative services to survivors and prevention services to vulnerable at-risk youth. Child Advocates of El Dorado County has applied to Run for Courage, Inc. for 2015 beneficiary grant funds.
