Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Probation Services Week aligns with National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week (PPPS Week) which is held annually during the third full week in July.

The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) strengthens the role of the community corrections industry and aims to reduce recidivism to keep communities safe. This year, the APPA celebrated 90,000 community corrections professionals around the country from July 19 through 25, during National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week (PPPS Week). The 2026 theme was Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision, which highlights the vital role community corrections professionals play in protecting public safety and supporting rehabilitation. Agencies use PPPS Week to recognize the efforts of community supervision officers, who work to foster trust and encourage accountability, provide rehabilitative support and second chances, and keep communities safe by enforcing legal sanctions outside of incarceration

The El Dorado County Probation Department is committed to providing public safety through collaborative partnerships and innovative practices in corrections. We approach this mission with accountability and compassion to create a safe community through changed lives. We believe that our well-trained, dedicated, and compassionate employees are our department's most valuable asset. We respect human rights and diversity and foster transparency through our accountability and communication. We strive to provide exemplary service by leading with integrity, humility, honesty and equality.
