DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
On March 5, 2019 (File ID: 19-0288), the Board received a presentation from Dr. Ed Manansala, Superintendent of Schools and Bellwether Education relative to a collaborative effort to improve system wide services for El Dorado County at-risk youth. At that meeting, the Board directed staff to continue efforts and staff resources to this collaborative effort.

As a result, the Board adopted Resolution 236-2019 on December 17, 2019 (File ID: 19-1769), establishing the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families. Section 5 of the Resolution 236-2019 had established the term limits for Public Members as, “When Public Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors, two of them shall be appointed for one year, and three of them shall be appointed to serve two years.” However, this would require the appointment of all five (5) Public Members every other year.

On March 10, 2022, the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families voted to update the Public Member Terms as stated on the original resolution.
