Body

Background
On February 15, 2013, the Parks and Recreation Commission met with the Chief Administrative Officer, Terri Daly and staff to discuss the role of the Parks and Recreation Commission as well as the role of the various advisory committees that report to the Commission.  It was recommended at that time that the Commission review these roles and determine whether there is a need to continue these committees.

This item was scheduled originally for April but has been carried over while the Commission and Committees review their roles.  On July 18, 2013, staff requested that this item be continued.

To date, the item has not returned to the Commission for discussion, so in response to the Board of Supervisors' request for an update, staff has prepared a memo identifying the roles and responsibilties of the parks, trails and river commissions and committees as well as options and recommendations for these appointed groups.
