Sheriff's Office recommending the Board:
1) Waive the competitive bidding requirements for the purchase of kitchen and laundry cleaning equipment, supplies, and tamper resistant chemical dispenser for both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe jails in accordance with Purchasing Ordinance 3.12.160, Section D for Contract 2977;
2)Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase purchase contract 2977 in the amount of $150,000 ($50,000/year) for a total amount of $248,000 and extend the term by three (3) years with an ending date of June 30, 2023; and
3) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the purchase contract as needed during the term as long as funding is available within the Department's budget.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office currently utilizes Ecolab to rent dishwashers for the South Lake Tahoe Jail on a perpetual basis, therefore, a sole source contract agreement for supplies corresponding with those rentals has been utilized.
Funds are being added to the purchase contract to cover costs in FY 2019/20, and in future years through June 30, 2023. A request for Authority to be given to the Purchasing Agent to increase the value of the purchase contract as long as the Department has the funding in the budget to prevent having to bring the purchase contract to the Board for multiple approvals.
Additionally, this contract provides the Sheriff’s Office the opportunity to purchase additional cleaning supplies utilized in both jails during the COVID-19 pandemic.
