Human Resources Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Agreement for Services 758-S0810 with Meyers, Nave, Riback, Silver and Wilson in an amount not to exceed $25,000 for the term April 22, 2008 through April 21, 2009 to provide professional legal services on an "as requested" basis for the Civil Service Commission. Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No Change to Net County Cost, as funds for this service is included in the Human Resources Department budget for the remainder of FY 2007-08 budget. Services to be rendered after June 20, 2008 will be included in the FY 2008-09 budget.
Background:
Reason for Recommendation: The Board is being asked to make findings that this independent Contractor can more economically and feasibly provide all professional legal services for the purpose of advising and assisting the County Civil Service Commission, acting as counsel for the Commission during hearings of appeals of discipline actions, complaints of unlawful personnel discrimination and other personnel matters pursuant to Board Resolutions or Memoranda of Understanding.
The current two (2) year agreement that was extended by a one (1) year approved amendment will expire April 22, 2008.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Human Resources will forward signed amended agreement to Contractor
