Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending the Board:
1) Award Bid No. 11-288-005 for the purchase of 3/8" X No. 6 Crushed aggregate Chips to the low qualified bidder, George Reed, Inc. of Ione, CA;
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a blanket purchase order in the amount of $377,000 for a twelve (12) month period following Board approval; and
3) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the blanket purchase order on an "as needed" basis during the awarded period as long as funding is available within the requesting department's budget.

FISCAL IMPACT/CHANGE TO NET COUNTY COST: Procurement and Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Department of Transportation's budget, Road fund.
REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: At the request of The Department of Transportation, the Procurement and Contracts division issued an Invitation to Bid for 3/8" x No.6 Crushed aggregate Chips. The Crushed Aggregate Chips are used for chip seal program for road maintenance on the East and West slopes of the County of El Dorado. Seventeen (17) invitations to bid were mailed, four (4) to local vendors. Four (4) qualified reponses were received, none from local vendors.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN FOLLOWING APPROVAL: Following Board approval, the Procurement and Contracts division will issue a blanket purchase order in the amount of $377,000.00 to George Reed, Inc. of Ione, CA.
