Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, recommending the Board adopt and authorize the Chair to sign Resolution 090-2016 sanctioning the closure of Marshall Road between Greenwood Road and Garden Valley Road, on Monday, July 4, 2016 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for the "Garden Valley 4th of July Parade & Celebration," subject to conditions set forth in Resolution No. 110-79, and in the "Application for Road Closure."

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Agency, Transportation Division is recommending Board approval of the road closure to provide for the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators along the course, and to enhance the success of this community event. Other involved agencies have made no objection to this closure.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The "Garden Valley 4th of July Parade & Celebration" is an event sponsored by the Georgetown Divide Recreation District (Sponsor) and has been held for the past 47 years. The event attracts residents from throughout the Divide and includes booths offering arts, crafts, food and a raffle with a grand prize given by the Garden Valley Community Association, which is a community partner with the Sponsor. They will also have live music on the Garden Valley Park Stage. The requested road closure is for the safety of the parade participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the course.
ALTERNATIVES
If the Board does not approve the road closure, the event would not take place at this time or location. If the Sponsor wants to proceed with this event they would have to explore other options.
