Elections Department recommending the Board:
1) Add one Sentinel Ballot Drop Box to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-27 Fixed Asset list in the amount of $19,950; and
2) Direct that appropriations for the Drop Box are included in the FY 2026-2027 Adopted Budget recommended changes.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
It was identified in the June 2026 Election that the current ballot drop box at Building C does not meet the capacity requirements for the location. The Sentinel Ballot Drop Box is a larger and more secure Drop Box that includes additional security features such as notifications to staff of the capacity of the ballot drop box and envelope detection which prevents items other than a ballot envelope from being deposited into the ballot drop box.
Staff are recommending the Board approve the addition of a Sentinel Ballot Drop Box to the FY 2026-27 Fixed Asset List. Once approved, Elections will purchase the Drop Box to replace the existing ballot drop box to accommodate the County’s busiest location at Building C.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board may elect not to approve the fixed asset purchase, and the department will continue to use the current Ballot Drop Box at Building C.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
