DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
The California Crippled Children’s Act is a statewide program established in 1927 and refined in 1978 through the Robert W. Crown California Children’s Services Act as described in California Health and Safety Code. The broadest application of the Act is to provide a program of services to children and youth from birth up to the age of 21 who are afflicted with life limiting diseases, physical and functional debility and specific genetic abnormalities. Examples of covered medical conditions include cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, rare blood factor disease, heart transplant (many causes), and catastrophic brain trauma.

The Public Health Division California Children’s Services (CCS) program provides services to an average of 650-850 families per year. HHSA’s Public Health Division oversees the CCS program in El Dorado County.

The beneficiaries of the Michael and Sarah Worlow Neri Family Trust, established in 1996 and amended in 2000, specifically established the Children’s Services Program of El Dorado County (931 Spring St, Placerville) as a Contingent Beneficiary along with several other community-based services.
