Transportation Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign claims to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for the following Transportation Development Act funds, Local Transportation Funds in the amount of $297,094 and State Transit Assistance Funds in the amount of $30,770; and adopt Resolutions authorizing the filing of said claims for fiscal year 2007/2008 for operation of the South Lake Tahoe Transit Program.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolutions 281-2007 and 282-2007.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The attached claims totaling $327,864 is a portion of the total TDA funds required for the program. TDA funds in the amount of $419,267 have been included in the FY 2007/2008 budget. The allocated TDA funds in addition to passenger fares and a Federal Transit Assistance grant will provide the total funding required to operate the existing South Lake Tahoe Transit program. A subsequent claim in the amount of $91,403 will be brought to your Board for approval in the future to provide full funding for the program. There is no net county cost associated with this agenda item.
Reason for Recommendation:
Annually the TRPA allocates TDA funds to El Dorado County. The TDA consists of two sources of funds: the LTF and the STA. The purpose of these funds is to provide public transportation within the unincorporated area of the Tahoe Basin.
In FY 2003/2004 through FY 2006/2007 the TDA funds available to El Dorado County exceeded the amount of the TDA claims submitted to TRPA for those years due to revised allocations and an increase in estimated carryover funds made available.
