DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
A Notice of Vacancy was reposted on June 16, 2026 and one application was received. Mr. Douglas McCauley expressed interest in serving. Supervisor Laine has reviewed Mr. McCauley’s qualifications and recommends the Board move forward with appointing him to the Assessment Appeals Board. Section 2.20.050 states “The County Board of Supervisors shall directly appoint members of the Assessment Appeals Board from those qualified persons nominated by members of the Board of Supervisors. Approval of each member shall be by majority vote of the Board of Supervisors.” Residency within the District is not a condition of appointment as Mr. McCauley resides in District 1.
