Title

Elections Department recommending the Board adopt and authorize the Chair to sign Resolution 124-2026 to place a measure titled: "Emergency Preparedness, Healthcare Access, and Wildfire Prevention Sales Tax Initiative" on the ballot for the November 3, 2026, General Election, in accordance with Elections Code section 9118(b).

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Pursuant to Elections Code section 9115, the Elections Department certified the results of an initiative petition titled, "Emergency Preparedness, Healthcare Access, and Wildfire Prevention Sales Tax Initiative" on June 15, 2026. 

 

On June 23, 2026, the Board of Supervisors accepted the Certification of Petition Signatures and ordered the initiative measure to be placed on the next statewide election to be held on November 3, 2026.

 

This resolution repeats the Board of Supervisors’ order and establishes the language for the ballot question.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The cost associated with a countywide measure is estimated at $130,000 and is not eligible for any other reimbursement or funding. Additional funding for this measure may be added as part of the Adopted Budget revisions.

Obtain the Chair’s signature on the Resolution and forward a signed Resolution to the Elections Department.
