DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On December 17, 2019, the Board passed Resolution 236-2019 establishing the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families. Resolution 236-2019 Section 3. Commission Membership states that One member shall be an acting member of the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.
On March 5, 2019 (Legistar 19-0288), the Board received a presentation from Dr. Ed Manansala, Superintendent of Schools and Bellwether Education relative to a collaborative effort to improve system wide services for El Dorado County at-risk youth. At that meeting, the Board directed staff to continue efforts and staff resources to this collaborative effort. Over the past several months, the Clerk's office has worked with First 5 and County Counsel to draft a Resolution to establish the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could determine not to appoint a Board member to the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families.
PRIOR BOARD ACTION
On December 17, 2019 (Legistar 19-1769), the Board adopted Resolution 236-2019 which established the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families.
On March 5, 2019 (Legistar 19-0288), the Board received a presentation from EDCOE and Bellwether.
