Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. Funding is available in the Fingerprint Identification Fund trust account which consists of revenues generated from vehicle registrations pursuant to Vehicle Code 9250.19, to be used specifically for this purpose. The FY 2011-12 budget includes $50,000 in staff costs covered with General Fund dollars. This revenue will offset these expenses resulting in a decrease to Net County Cost for the Sheriff of $50,000 and an increase in General Fund Contingency of $50,000.

Background:
In November 1997, the Board of Supervisors authorized a $1 fee to be added to vehicle registrations to "fund local programs that enhance local law enforcement to provide fingerprint identification" pursuant to Vehicle Code 9250.19. These funds are currently being collected and deposited into the Fingerprint Identification Fund.

On October 21, 2011, the Cal-ID Remote Access Network Board (RAN Board), authorized the expenditure of $258,000 from the Fingerprint Identification Trust Fund for the following:
