Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Funding is included in the fiscal year 2011-12 Fleet Operations Fund and will be included in future budgets covered by the term of this Agreement. There is no change to Net County Cost.

Reason for Recommendation: Under the proposed Agreement, Five Star Automotive, will furnish materials, supplies, parts, equipment, personnel, subcontractors and services necessary to provide automotive repair and maintenance services for County fleet vehicles in the South Lake Tahoe basin. Details of the work will include preventive maintenance; tune-ups; engine overhauls; smog inspections; windshield and glass repairs or replacements; tire mounting, installation, balancing, studding and repairs; alignments; minor body repairs; and maintenance and repair of brakes, air conditioning systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, engine cooling systems, transmissions and clutches.

The Agreement is necessary to repair and maintain vehicles and equipment in the South Lake Tahoe Basin for the Department’s Fleet Services Unit. Although most of the services provided under this Agreement involve bargaining unit work, the County does not have an adequate automotive servicing facility in the South Lake Tahoe Basin.
