Title
Chief Administrative Officer recommending that the Board delegate authority to authorize and execute a design contract in excess of $60,318 for the upgrade/replacement of the operations console and related equipment at the Placerville Jail, the contract subject to approval of County Counsel. (Est. Time: 20 Min.)
Body
The County Purchasing Ordinance authorizes the Chief Administrative Officer, as the Purchasing Agent, to enter into professional services contracts up to $60,318.00.  The Sheriff is currently engaged in assessing the costs of upgrading/replacing certain equipment at the Placerville Jail, including the operations console.  The cost of design of that equipment will not be known until after this agenda but may exceed $60,318 and the Sheriff would like to proceed with that design effort immediately.  The Board will be dark until May 1 and therefore, the CAO requests the Board delegate authority to enter into that design contract in excess of the current Purchasing Agent's authority.  By reprioritizing projects, funding will be available within the Criminal Justice Special Revenue Fund.
