Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Expenditures for purchases made relative to this Reimbursement Agreement are offset by Homeland Security Grant funds. As a result, there is no impact to Net County Cost.

Background: Previously, your Board established the Approval Authority to administer the use of Homeland Security Grant funds. The Approval Authority consists of representatives from the City of Placerville, City of South Lake Tahoe, the Sheriff’s Department, Fire Districts, and other eligible agencies. The Approval Authority approved a disbursement of $69,000 to the City of Placerville for the purchase of this video storage and in-car video system equipment

Reason for Recommendation: Due to the need to enter into licensing agreements with the vendor, the City of Placerville will be purchasing all of the necessary equipment in accordance with Homeland Security Grant requirements. Approval of this recommendation will allow the Sheriff’s Office to reimburse the City of Placerville in an amount not to exceed $69,000 and subsequently receive Homeland Security Grant funds to offset 100% of the costs.

The Sheriff’s Office will be monitoring the purchases made on an annual basis, including the purchasing process, ensuring the equipment remains in good working condition and is being used in accordance with grant requirements.
