Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
The jurisdictions that placed measures on the ballot will be billed their pro-rata share of cost for the election. The Elections Department will be reimbursed by the said jurisdictions.
Background
The statewide direct primary election is a scheduled election pursuant to Elections Code § 1201. Assembly Bill 80, signed by the Governor on July 29, 2011, consolidated the presidential primary with the state's direct primary held on June 5, 2012.
Reason for Recommendation
The results of the votes cast at the Consolidated Presidential Primary Election held on June 5, 2012 were certified by the Recorder-Clerk-Registrar of Voters on June 19, 2012. Elections Code § 15400 requires the governing Board shall declare the results of each election held under its jurisdiction.
