Background
Each fiscal year the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) provides funding to local agencies to support comprehensive emergency management at the tribal and local levels to encourage the improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for all hazards.

The Sheriff's Office applied for and was awarded $161,960 with a County match requirement of 100%, and is requesting Board approval to accept the grant funds.  The Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services staff spend 100% of their time on tasks that are reimbursable through this grant, allowing the Sheriff's office to meet the match requirement.

Reason for Recommendation
This grant benefits El Dorado County in that it provides additional funding to the Sheriff's Office to improve emergency response preparedness and coordination efforts throughout El Dorado County.

Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
The Sheriff's Office will submit claims for salary costs to receive the grant funds.
