Background
Every year the Chief Administrative Office puts together a presentation titled "Budget Basics". This presentation is a tool for the public to help explain some of the basic information behind the County budget.
Reason for Recommendation
The County Budget is much more than a document looked at once a year. The Budget is a policy making tool and an opportunity for the public to provide input on the use of taxpayer dollars. The Budget also provides information on the various services that the County offers as well as these service delivery costs. The Budget can be one of the most effective communication tools that the County provides. Budget discussions are the building blocks for priorities, policies and future planning.
Therefore, the Chief Administrative Office would like to present some basic concepts regarding the Budget to help promote communication between departments, the public and the Board of Supervisors.
