Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
The funding being used is special revenue funds allocated to the District Attorney, resulting in no impact to Net County Cost.

Background
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 30061, the Board of Supervisors shall appropriate existing and anticipated moneys exclusively to provide frontline law enforcement services in the unincorporated areas of the county, in response to written requests submitted to the Board by the District Attorney. Any request submitted shall specify the frontline law enforcement needs of the requesting entity, and those personnel, equipment and programs that are necessary to meet those needs.

During the period of July 1, 2012 through February 28, 2013, the District Attorney's Office has received an additional $17,550.

Reason for Recommendation
The District Attorney has identified a need to purchase six additional laptop computers along with associated supplies such as cases and docking stations. These laptops will be assigned to attorneys and investigators, allowing them to access essential information while away from their office resulting in a more efficient use of time.
