Title
Supervisor Briggs recommending the Board receive a presentation provided by the Health and Human Services Agency on the County's Family Caregiver Support Program and the Senior Information and Assistance Program.  (Est. Time:  15 Min.)
Body
The County of El Dorado's Department of Health and Human Services, through the Department of Human Services, offers a wide range of programs designed to meet the basic needs and to improve the quality of life for residents in our community.  The Senior Services Division administers numerous programs for County residents 60 years of age and older, including the Family Caregiver Support Program and the Senior Information and Assistance Program.

Established under the Older Americans Act, the Family Caregiver Support Program and the Senior Information and Assistance Program are both federally-funded programs administered by the County to provide assistance to older adults and their families.

The Family Caregiver Support Program provides a system of support services to help the informal caregivers of older adults and the grandparent/relative caregivers who are caring for children.  The Program's services include education, support and training.

The Senior Information and Assistance Program helps older adults access social and health services throughout the county.  The Program informs, guides and links older adults to available appropriate and acceptable programs to meet their needs.
