Founded on April 21, 1978 by Tom and Cheryl Millham and Bob and BJ Dietz, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc has cared for more than 24,000 orphaned and injured wild birds and animals, and in April of 2000, was the first wildlife rehabilitation organization in the State of California to receive authorization from the California Fish and Game to rehabilitate orphaned bear cubs.  More than two-thirds of all wildlife are rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
 
Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc. is supported by 2,400 active and honorary members and volunteers who provide year round and ongoing tender loving care, "Giving Mother Nature a Helping Hand!".
