Background
The Secretary of State has made $16,150 available in the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grant funds for attendance at Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) regional training sessions and for polling place improvements and equipment necessary to implement HAVA Section 261 requirements. The grant funds will expire December 31, 2014.
 
The Elections Department will use the grant funds to attend DOR training, update accessibility surveys for polling places to be used in 2013 and 2014 elections and purchase equipment to improve polling place accessibility.
 
Reason for Recommendation
Execution of a State Standard Agreement is required for receipt of the grant funds.
 
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
The Recorder-Clerk-Registrar of Voters will sign and return the State Standard Agreement to the California Secretary of State.
