Body

On Thursday, August 1st, 2013, a driver and passenger were injured when their car hit a tree and caught fire near Diamond Springs. The passenger was able to escape, but the driver was caught inside. The first responder on scene was CHP Officer Lisa Beaudette. She used her fire extinguisher to slow the flames and continued to try to free the pinned driver, but the flames continued to grow. Officer Robert Nevins arrived, grabbed his extinguisher and ran to assist Officer Beaudette and the driver. Ignoring all personal dangers, the two CHP officers grabbed the driver and using all their strength, pulled the driver out as the flames touched them all. El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Crawford arrived and helped to drag the driver to safety and begin administering first aid. All three acted without hesitation, over and above the call of duty.
