No change to Net County Cost.  Overtime costs associated with this program will be reimbursed by the US DOJ DEA.

Background
The US DOJ DEA annually provides funds to the County of El Dorado Sheriff's Office to defray costs relating to the eradication and suppression of illicit marijuana.  This Agreement is retroactive as to term (1/1/13 - 12/31/13).  The County received the Agreement from the DOJ and completed its review recently. The delay was related to County Counsel's recommendation that there be written acknowledgement from the Sheriff's Office that none of this funding  be used to offset costs associated with law enforcement oversight of legal marijuana activities.  The Sheriff's Office has acknowledged its intent to comply with this recommendation.

Reason for Recommendation
This is an annual agreement that the Sheriff's Office has participated in since 1997. Approval of this recommendation will allow the Sheriff's Office to receive grant funds up to $80,000 from the US DOJ DEA for illicit marijuana suppression and eradication staff overtime costs.

Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Original grant documents signed by the Sheriff have been returned to the Department of Justice.  Funding has been included in the Sheriff's FY 2013/14 budget.
