Title
Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office recommending the Board authorize the issuance of a business license to Sandra L. Helms operating a fortunetelling/psychic reading business in the Placerville area.
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
None
Background
Pursuant to El Dorado County Ordinance Code, Title 5, Section 5.14.070, Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations, an application for a fortunetelling business license shall be expressly authorized by the County Board of Supervisors.  The board may limit the number of licenses issued to such number as in its judgment will serve the public health, safety and welfare.  At this time, no other business licenses for fortunetelling are active in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County.
Reason for Recommendation
Sandra L. Helms, doing business as  Ancient Spirits, has made application for a business license as a fortuneteller / psychic reader and healer.
Pursuant to Ordinance Code section 5.14.070, the Sheriff has reviewed the applicant's background, and has filed a written report stating no objection to the issuance of the business license.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office has reviewed the application and the Sheriff's report, and does not object to the issuance of the business license.
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Upon Board approval, the Sheriff's Office shall issue a special (itinerant) business license for the applicant, and upon payment of the $130.00 license fee, (authorized under Board Resolution #179-2003), the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office will issue the fortuneteller business license.
