Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
This is a 100% matching grant requiring $162,103 of Net County Cost which is already budgeted in the Sheriff's FY 2013/14 operating budget.

Background
Cal OES makes funds available each fiscal year to support comprehensive emergency management at the state, tribal and local levels to encourage the improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for all hazards.  The match is to ensure that counties are making a similar investment in this important function.

Reason for Recommendation
The Sheriff's Office applied and was awarded $162,103 with a County match requirement of 100%.  The Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES) staff spends 100% of their time on tasks that are reimbursable through this EMPG grant.  The OES staff salaries are already budgeted and paid by General Funds, so the match is already being met.  The grant is a fiscal benefit to the County in that it will provide partial funding of the OES staff salaries.

Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Claims will be submitted to Cal OES for emergency management salary costs.
