Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
No change to Net County Cost.  This is to correct an accounting error in the Federal Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certifications filed annually with the US Department of Justice.
 
Background
The Equitable Sharing Agreement is entered into and between the Federal Government, the El Dorado County Sheriff, the El Dorado County DA and the Governing Body of the County, and sets forth the requirements for participation in the Federal Equitable Sharing program including the restrictions of use for federally forfeited cash, property, proceeds, and any interest earned thereon, which are equitably shared with participating law enforcement agencies.
 
In FY 2009/10, an error in the amount of $36.99 was made in calculating the fund balance.  This error continued to be carried over into FY 2010/11 and 2011/12 certifications.
 
Reason for Recommendation
This action will allow the Sheriff's Office to correct an error and submit accurate certifications to the US Department of Justice for the prior 3 fiscal years.
 
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
After Chairman's signature, Board Clerk's Office to return orginals to the Sheriff's Office for transmittal to the US Department of Justice.
