Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts on behalf of the Information Technologies Department, recommending the Board consider the following:
1) Award Bid 14-204-025 for the purchase of Cisco Network Equipment to the low qualified bidder, AMS.Net of Livermore, CA;
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a blanket purchase order in the amount of $102,000 for a 12 month award period following Board approval; and
3) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the blanket purchase order on an "as needed" basis during the awarded period as long as funding is available within the requesting department's budget.

Procurement and Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Information Technologies budget.
Reason for Recommendation
At the request of the Information Technologies Department, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued an Invitation to Bid for Cisco Network Equipment. The Network Equipment needed, is for year two of a three-year plan to update the County data networking equipment and consolidate the voice and data networks into one coexistent network. This will lead to a more efficient and less costly network infrastructure and a more feature-rich phone experience as well as greater network reliability, minimizing the risk of employee down time.
Forty-five (45) bid notification letters were mailed. Five (5) qualified responses were received, none from a local vendor. The evaluation was based on the estimated number of network equipment components needed this fiscal year.
