Body
Auburn Lake Trails is a community of approximately 3,000 county residents.  Located in Supervisorial District IV, just outside of Cool, Auburn Lake Trails is situated on the rim of the Middle Fork of the American River and is located in an identified Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) area.  The steep topography within the canyon and dense vegetation, combined with the day use activities in the State Recreation Area are some of the hazards and risks to be considered as part of a community's fire safe planning and fuels reduction efforts.

The Auburn Lake Trails Fire Safety and Improvement Council (ALTFSIC) is active in developing and implementing fire risk reduction programs.  These activities include the development and approval of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan.  The ALTFSIC has prepared the 2013 Auburn Lake Trails Community Wildfire Protection Plan as an update to their 2005 CWPP, which was an update to the original Auburn Lake Trails Fire Safe & Fuels Reduction Plan.

The ALTFSIC has submitted a request to Supervisor Briggs to provide his signature to the CWPP to indicate his acceptance and sign-off of the 2013 CWPP.  Chief Michael Hardy, El Dorado County Fire Protection District and Unit Chief Kelly Keenan (retired), Amador-El Dorado Unit, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection have signed the 2013 Auburn Lake Trails CWPP.
