Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
Funding has been included in the FY 2013-14 budget for indigent defense / conflict panel services. This Agreement replaces an agreement that was terminated early, and does not increase the total cost of the conflict panel services. The Agreement includes provisions for additional funding not reflected in budget summary for ancillary services and exceedingly long or complex cases.
Background
On June 25, 2013 and July 30, 2013 the Board of Supervisors approved agreements for indigent defense / conflict panel services with 10 attorneys. One attorney has terminated his agreement and created a vacancy on the conflict panel.
Reason for Recommendation
David A. Brooks has been selected to fill the vacancy on the conflict panel. The Agreement is for a term of March 1, 2014 to June 30, 2016.
Clerk of the Board Follow Up Actions
Chair will sign two copies of Agreement.
One copy of signed Agreement will be forwarded to Chief Administrative Office for delivery to Contractor.
