Background
El Dorado County Career Technical Partnership (CTP) is an innovative and comprehensive educational partnership created to help prepare today's students to enter a fast-moving, rapidly changing work environment. The CTP helps teachers incorporate practical activities into lessons and modules that reflect the skills needed in the local workforce. This provides their students with an awareness of career opportunities in our County as well as helping to answer that age old question heard by teachers, "Why do I need to learn this stuff?" Through a combination of classroom activities and hands-on learning activities created by teachers as a result of their externship experience, students are challenged to grow in directions that will help them succeed.

El Dorado County Chief Administrative Office, Parks Division (Division), was asked to host two teachers for the Los Rios Community College Summer Institute 2014 Career Technical Partnership. This is a program that the Division is very excited to participate in. We are fortunate to have Amber Garcia from Gold Trail Unified School District and Adele Montgomery from Camino Elementary as the two CTP teachers.

Ms. Garcia teaches seventh grade Math and Science. Her focus will be on the Rubicon Trail and the maintenance efforts by the County to comply with the Clean Up and Abatement Order.
