Reason For Recommendation
At the request of the Community Development Agency, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued Invitation to Bid #14-288-076 for the purchase of Plant Mix Asphalt Concrete for the East Slope of El Dorado County for the maintenance and repair of county roads on the East Slope of El Dorado County.  Twenty invitations to bid were mailed, two to local vendors, two qualified responses were received, one from a local vendor.  A spreadsheet is attached for your review.

On 05/27/2014, the Purchasing Agent awarded bid #14-288-076 to the low qualified bidder Tahoe Asphalt of South Lake Tahoe, CA. in the amount of $99,000.00 for a twelve month period expiring on 05/26/2015.

This item was originally set to be heard by the Board of Supervisors on the June 3, 2014 agenda.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, the entire agenda was continued until a later date, and as such, this item was removed from the Board approval process.

To avoid disruption in purchasing this product, a blanket purchase order was issued within the Purchasing Agents signature authority of $99,000.00, until such time as the Board of Supervisors can approve the total budgeted amount of $180,000.00 for a one year period to expire on May 26, 2015 for the purchase of Plant Mix Asphalt Concrete for the East Slope of El Dorado County,

Following Board approval, the Procurement and Contracts Division will increase the blanket purchase order in the amount of $180,000.00 to Tahoe Asphalt of South Lake Tahoe, CA.
