Charter Review Committee recommending the Board adopt Resolution 105-2014 to place a Charter Amendment on the November 4, 2014 Ballot to amend Charter section 203 - Filling of Vacancies modifying the timeframe for a special election in the event of a vacancy in the office of a District Supervisor from 90-120 days to 90-180 days.

At their regular meeting of February 11, 2014 (Item 32) the Board directed the creation of a Charter Review Committee with appointments from each Supervisor for the purpose of reviewing the County Charter as directed by Charter section 701.
At their meetings of June 25, 2014 and July 14, 2014 the Charter Review Committee discussed and heard public input on Charter section 203 - Flling of Vacancies (which relates specifically to the position of District Supervisor in the event of a vacancy) and voted 5-0 in favor of recommending these changes to the Board of Supervisors for their consideration.
