Title: Auditor-Controller recommending the Board approve and authorize chair to sign Amendment I to Agreement for Services No. 273-S1411 with Calfee & Konwinski, contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management, extending the agreement for one year, covering the period of October 18, 2014 through October 17, 2015 and increasing compensation by $50,000 for a not exceed amount of $80,000. Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
There is no fiscal impact to the County.  Costs are paid by the special assessment districts or the  affected property owner.
 
Reason for Recommendation
Calfee & Konwinski, a Professional Corporation, has been authorized by your Board to initiate foreclosure proceedings on parcels in the multiple special assessment districts since October 2006. In accordance with various bond indentures and County practice, the Auditor-Controller's Office has assumed the responsibility of pursuing judicial foreclosures on parcels that are delinquent in paying special taxes in the various special assessment districts.
 
The Board originally approved Agreement 273-S1411 with Calfee & Konwinski on October 8, 2013.
 
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
1) The Clerk will obtain the Chair's signature on two originals of Amendment I to Agreement for Services No. 273-S1411
2) The Clerk will return retain one original and forward the second original to the Auditor-Controller's Office.
