Background
On October 17, 2014, at approximately 8:00 am, a Deputy with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office contacted a white male adult in his 30's near Cable Road in Camino.  A struggle ensued and the suspect retrieved a handgun.  The suspect fired at the Deputy; however, the Deputy was not injured.  The suspect was wearing a flannel shirt, blue pants and boots.  The suspect was further described as having a shaved head with a goatee, approximately 6′″ to 6′″, and approximately 200-250 pounds.  The suspect was last seen driving away on Cable Road in a white, single cab Dodge pickup with no license plate.

Numerous agencies in the area searched for the suspect and assisted the Sheriff's Office with the investigation. As part of the investigation and ongoing search, reverse 911 calls were made to alert residents of the affected areas, and several roads in the area were closed.

Law Enforcement Officers continued to check the Camino area regularly for the suspect involved in the shooting, but were unsuccessful in locating him.

At this time, the suspect that fired at the Deputy has still not been located. Deputies and Detectives are still following up on investigative leads. There are no known facts regarding this incident to indicate there is any immediate danger to the general public.  However, residents are instructed to remain observant of their surroundings and contact law enforcement if they see anything or anyone suspicious.  The reward for information is intended to give an incentive to anyone who may have information that could lead to the arrest with full cooperation with all law enforcement entities and representatives regarding any aspect of the investigation and prosecution.

Reason for Recommendation
Approval of this recommendation would allow the Sheriff's Office to offer a reward for information from the public in solving this case.

Clerk of the Board Follow Up Actions
The Budget Transfer will be routed through to the Auditor's Office for posting, and the Sheriff's Office will work with the media and other public outlets to get reward notices distributed.
