DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:
Chief Administrative Office, Parks Division is recommending the Commission approve the Bench Policy so that the policy can be brought back to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
On October 30, 2012, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to send the draft Bench Policy back to the Trails Advisory Committee for further refinements. The suggested refinements were that the personal plaques placed on any donation be generic in nature and that all donations, such as picnic tables and benches be maintenance free so as to not impose any ongoing maintenance on the Facilities Department . At the May 2013 meeting of the Trails Advisory Committee changes were made to change the Bench Policy to a Donation Policy, which would cover any donation to the parks or trails in El Dorado County. No further action was taken by the Trails Advisory Committee on this item. Due to recently inquiries as to the donation of benches at Henningsen Lotus Park as well as along the El Dorado Trail, staff recommended the Parks and Recreation Commission review the policy and make the changes. Once approved, the Bench Policy will be be taken back to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
