A broad group of South Shore community leaders came together to consider what a shared legacy for the community would be as a result of collective actions. Nearly 40 leaders including elected officials and staff from both counties, city staff, college board members, business owners, community leaders and chief executive officers from local employers, as well as non-profit and agency leaders, discussed the benefits if shared legacy principles were utilized to guide decision making and strategic planning.
These community leaders now seek to develop principles upon which there is collective agreement toward legacy goals. In designing these principles, it was agreed that everything considered should convey our community’s interests in an Exceptional Quality of Life and would also address impacts on the economy, environment and social equity. It was discussed how legacy principles should demonstrate environmental stewardship, economic diversity and contribute to a sustainable and vibrant community.
