DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
The Board is being asked to approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign Amendment I to Agreement No. 412-S1510 with Jones & Mayer to advise, assist, and represent the County in employment proceedings for the Sheriff’s Office for the period of February 24, 2015 through February 23, 2016, increasing the not to exceed amount by $90,000.00 for a total not to exceed amount of $100,000.00, revising the scope of services, and revising the termination language, pending Counsel and Risk approval and minor revisions.

The Board is also being asked to make findings that it is more feasible and economical to engage an outside Attorney to advise, assist, and represent the County in employment proceedings in accordance with Ordinance 3.13.040.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On February 24, 2015 the Purchasing Agent approved and executed Agreement No. 412-S1510 with Jones & Mayer to advise, assist, and represent the County in employment proceedings for the Sheriff’s Office. The compensation of this Agreement has been amended, increasing from $10,000.00 to $100,000.00 for the period of February 24, 2015 through February 23, 2016 to accommodate the departments estimated cost of services for the contract period. The hourly rate for Attorneys will not increase in this Amendment. The hourly rate of $125 for Paralegals has been added. The scope and termination language has also been revised.
