Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
No change to Fiscal Impact or Net County Cost associated with this amendment. The grant provides $60,450 for the purchase and installation of the equipment. The Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and Facilities Division are contributing a match of $16,116 in staff time to administer the grant, oversee the contractor, conduct education and outreach efforts, and collect usage data.
Background
Assembly Bill (AB) 118 passed in 2007 created the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program. This statute authorized the CEC to develop and deploy alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help attain the state's climate change goals. AB 8 re-authorizes this program until January 1, 2024 allocating up to $20 million per year.
The CEC issued solicitation PON-13-606, a competitive grant request for proposals to fund EV charging infrastructure and support the growth of EV usage in California. AQMD submitted an application and was awarded $60,450 to install six (6) Level 2 EV chargers at the EDC Placerville Government Center (Fair Lane) and four (4) Level 2 EV chargers at the EDC South Lake Tahoe Government Center (Johnson Blvd). These chargers will be available to the general public.
On 8/26/14, the Board approved and the chair signed agreement ARV 13-047. On 9/22/14, the Energy Commission executed the agreement.
On 2/3/15, the Board approved an agreement amendment that increased the number of chargers installed from 10 to 15.
