DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

The Charter Review Committee (2014) approved referral of this matter to the Board at their meeting of August 4, 2014 (Item 5). 

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Committee refers this matter to the Board requesting placement on the June 7, 2016 ballot to remove section 210 c. as the substance of the section is now covered by general law, after passage of Proposition 218 in November of 1996.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may elect to not place this matter on the ballot, thereby retaining this language in the County Charter.

Adopt and authorize the Chair to sign the Resolution.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The financial impact of this item is negligible as Elections staff will simply include the ballot language with the general election ballot for June 7, 2016.
