Parks Division recommending the Commission review and recommend approval of the Draft South Lake Tahoe Parks, Trails, and Recreation Master Plan Mitigated Negative Declaration by the Board of Supervisors

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

In Spring 2013, El Dorado County (the County) and the City of South Lake Tahoe joined forces to create a new Parks, Trails, & Recreation Master Plan for the South Shore.  This Master Plan represents a coordinated effort to align recreation resources and obtain community support to enhance recreaton facilities and services for the Eastern Slope of El Dorado County.  The plan provides direction for enhancing recreation opportunitiies for residents and viitors by increasing collaborative efforts and focusing resources where they are most needed.  A community engagement process was undertaken to better understand community priorities and recreational needs. 

 

The Master Plan encompasses the entire East Slope of El Dorado County and City of South Lake Tahoe.  Recreation providers include multiple jurisdictions including City, County, State and Federal lands as well as many private service providers and nonprofit organizations.

 

This item was approved by the City of South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission and City Council.
