DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

Sheriff's Office recommends the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign Agreement #396-L1611.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The State of California operates telecommunciations facilities at numerous mountaintop locations throughout the state. These facilities were developed for use by State agencies requiring radio communications. The Sheriff's Office has leased space in the communications vault located at the Big Hill radio site for a number of years to provide radio communications for the County. The last time an agreement for this purpose came before the Board was November 2, 2010.

In order to continue to provide radio communications, the Sheriff's Office had to renew their lease with the State. This agreement is for an initial term of 10 years, from May 1, 2016 through April 30, 2026 with an automatic extension option through December 31, 2030. Compensation per the agreement requires payment in May of each year with the first payment upon final execution of this agreement.
