Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending the Board: (1) Award Bid 07-725-018 for the purchase of one (1) interoperable communications system for the Sheriff's Department to the low qualified bidder, Link Communications, Inc. of Billings, MT; (2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order in the amount of $36,126.00, including sales tax for same.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: At the request of the Sheriff's Office, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued an Invitation to Bid for one (1) interoperable communications system inclusive of three (3) tactical communication bridges, eight (8) VHF radios and five (5) UHF radios. The interoperable communications system will improve radio emergency communications between the Sheriff's Office and various state, federal and local agencies.
The Sheriff's Office's ability to communicate with fire districts, other law enforcement agencies and medical services, is currently limited by the types of radios and frequencies that are used by the various agencies. The interoperable communications system will provide the equipment necessary to effectively communicate with other agencies during an emergency.
One-hundred twenty-nine (129) Invitations to Bid were mailed; nine (9) to local vendors. Two (2) qualified responses were received, none from local vendors. Attached is a spreadsheet for your review.
FISCAL IMPACT/CHANGE TO NET COUNTY COST: Procurement and Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Sheriff's Office fixed asset budget.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN FOLLOWING APPROVAL: Following Board approval, the Procurement and Contracts Division will issue a purchase order in the amount of $36,126.00, including sales tax, to Link Communications, Inc. of Billings, MT.
