Background: The Public Health Department, in collaboration with the Department of Human Services and the El Dorado County Superior Court, currently receives Comprehensive Drug Court Implementation funding from the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP) for the El Dorado County Juvenile Drug Court and Dependency Drug Court Programs which provide substance abuse services for youths and families involved with juvenile court dependency proceedings.

Reason for Recommendation: Public Health has the opportunity to apply to ADP for additional Comprehensive Drug Court Implementation funding for fiscal year 2006-07 in the amount of $25,264 for the 6 month period of January 1 through June 30, 2007. These funds would be used to implement an Adult Drug Court Program which would serve adult convicted felons placed on formal probation with the intent of producing ongoing and greater prison savings. Should the Department's application be approved, the Department will return to the Board of Supervisors for approval of the resulting Agreement.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net county Cost: No change to Net County cost at this time.
